This refreshing Watermelon Strawberry Water is made with only 2 ingredients- real, fresh watermelon and strawberries! Simply blend the watermelon and strawberries together in a high speed blender, strain and pour over ice for the best hydrating summer drink. 🍉🍓💦☀️
We were getting ready to head out on vacation and I always try to empty my fridge before we go, and I don’t like to throw food away. It forces me to get creative with recipes sometimes! We had half of a large watermelon to use up, and some strawberries. Hmm. 🤔
I have been obsessed with watermelon water this summer. There’s nothing quite like sipping on a refreshing, fruity beverage while you’re out in the hot sun at the beach or the pool, that’s also hydrating.
I have been purchasing cans of watermelon water, which is super convenient and delicious, but I wanted to try to make my own at home AND it used up the watermelon I had. I think this might be my new way of enjoying watermelon water. And besides, I get to add other fruits to it if I choose, in this case, fresh strawberries 🍓. By making my own, I can also omit any added sugars and keep this yummy drink 100% sweetened with fruit.
There couldn’t be a simpler recipe than this Watermelon Strawberry Water. With just 2 ingredients, you’ll have a refreshing summer beverage ready in just 10 minutes.
Watermelon 🍉. For this watermelon water recipe you will need approximately 8 cups of watermelon, which is about half of a large watermelon. You’ll want to remove the watermelon rind and use the flesh only. Seeds are ok! Read more below about watermelon seed benefits.
Strawberries 🍓. I had some strawberries about to go bad before we left for out of town so I decided to blend them with the watermelon and it was a delicious combo! You will need 10-12 large strawberries, stems removed.
To make this Watermelon Strawberry Water at home you will need a blender and a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag.
If you’re not planning on serving this Watermelon Strawberry Water right away to guests, you might have leftovers, which is great to enjoy another day! If that’s the case, it is helpful to have a jar with a lid to keep it stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Step 1. Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the flesh of the watermelon until you have about 8 cups worth.
Step 2. Blend the watermelon and washed strawberries in high speed blender until smooth.
Step 3. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag. Pour over ice and enjoy!
Tip: if you chill the watermelon in the fridge prior to making, the drink is already chilled!
If you don’t buy a seedless watermelon, using a watermelon with seeds is fine! And actually, you don’t even need to pick all the little black watermelon seeds out prior to blending!
Maybe when you were a child you were told not to swallow the watermelon seeds or you’d grow a watermelon in your stomach 😆, so you spit them out. But did you know that watermelon seeds actually have some great benefits?! 🤗
To properly absorb the benefits of watermelon seeds, they ideally need to be shelled and sprouted, but in this case, blended seeds could also offer some benefits. Of course eating the flesh of a watermelon is healthy, but the seeds actually contain:
Magnesium. Aids in nerve, muscle recovery, immune, heart, mood and bone health.
Protein. These highly digestible seeds do contain essential amino acids supporting muscle development, growth, and recovery.
B vitamins. Specifically niacin, folate, thiamin, riboflavin, B6 and pantothenic acid- proving to be a good source of plant-based B vitamins, supporting cellular development and metabolism.
Vitamin C & Antioxidants. Contributes to skin and immune health.

This recipe calls for 8 cups of watermelon, which is about half of a large watermelon. Which seems like a lot! But that makes this recipe great to serve at a summer party, pool party, cookout, trip the beach! 🏖️ You can get 6-8 servings out of this Watermelon Strawberry Water recipe.
Keep any leftover watermelon water stored in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 3 days. Don’t forget to give it a little shake before pouring a glass.
I don’t consume alcohol, so I can’t say how this would taste with a splash of booze- but I imagine this Watermelon Strawberry Water would make a fantastic base to a light and refreshing summer cocktail!🍹
