Why You’ll Love This Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Dip
- Creamy and satisfying. Silken tofu and vegan cream cheese create an ultra-creamy base without dairy.
- Packed with cauliflower. Roasting the cauliflower first gives it better flavor and texture than simply steaming or boiling it.
- Full of buffalo flavor. Buffalo sauce gives every bite that signature spicy, tangy flavor.
- Mildly spiced. For those of us who can’t do spicy food (🙋🏻♀️ me!), this dip is mild and enjoyable for spicy and no-spicy buffalo dip lovers (depending on the buffalo sauce you use).
- Perfect for parties. This warm dip is an easy addition to a game day or Super Bowl appetizer spread.
- Gluten-free and vegan. It’s a crowd-friendly appetizer that is completely plant-based and naturally easy to keep gluten-free.
- Easy to customize. Add more or less buffalo sauce depending on how spicy you like your dip.
Ingredients
Cauliflower. Fresh cauliflower is the star of this dip. Roasting the florets before adding them to the dip brings out their flavor while keeping some texture throughout the creamy filling.
Silken Tofu. Silken tofu blends seamlessly into the dip, adding creaminess and body without overpowering the buffalo flavor. There’s no need to press it—simply drain off any excess liquid before blending. Using tofu adds some plant-based protein to this dip as well!
Vegan Cream Cheese. Vegan cream cheese makes this buffalo cauliflower dip thick, rich, and creamy. Allow it to soften slightly before blending for the smoothest consistency. This is my favorite vegan cream cheese!
Vegan Mayonnaise. A small amount of vegan mayo adds richness and helps give the dip that classic creamy appetizer texture.
Buffalo Sauce. Use your favorite vegan and gluten-free buffalo-style hot sauce. You can adjust the amount depending on your preferred spice level. I used this one and it’s very mild.
Nutritional Yeast. Nutritional yeast adds savory, cheesy flavor without the need for shredded vegan cheese. I like this brand.
Garlic. Fresh garlic adds plenty of savory flavor to the creamy buffalo base.
Onion Powder. A little onion powder rounds out the savory flavors without adding chunks of onion.
Olive Oil. A small amount of olive oil helps the cauliflower become tender and lightly golden as it roasts.
Salt. Salt seasons both the roasted cauliflower and creamy buffalo filling.
Smoked Paprika. A little smoked paprika can add another layer of savory, smoky flavor.

How to Make Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Dip
1. Roast the Cauliflower
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Add 4 cups of cauliflower florets (1 medium head of cauliflower) to a baking sheet and toss with 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Spread the cauliflower into an even layer. Roast for 25-35 minutes, or until the cauliflower is tender and lightly golden around the edges.
2. Make the Creamy Buffalo Base
Add silken tofu, vegan cream cheese, vegan mayonnaise, buffalo sauce, nutritional yeast, garlic clove, onion powder, and smoked paprika to a food processor. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
3. Add the Roasted Cauliflower
Add the roasted cauliflower to the food processor with the buffalo sauce mixture. Pulse several times until the cauliflower is incorporated but the mixture still has some texture. Add salt to taste.
4. Bake
Reduce the oven temperature to 375°F. Spread the buffalo cauliflower mixture evenly into a small baking dish. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and bubbling slightly around the edges. Top with sliced green onions and an extra drizzle of buffalo sauce (if desired) and serve warm.
What to Serve with Buffalo Cauliflower Dip
One of the best things about this vegan buffalo dip is all the options for dipping! Try serving it with:
- Gluten-free tortilla chips
- Gluten-free crackers
- Celery sticks
- Carrot sticks
- Mini bell peppers
- Cucumber slices
- Toasted gluten-free baguette slices
- Pretzel crisps or gluten-free pretzels
For game day, I love serving a combination of crunchy vegetables and tortilla chips so everyone can choose their favorite.
Tips for the Best Buffalo Cauliflower Dip
Don’t skip roasting the cauliflower. Roasting adds so much more flavor than steaming or boiling and prevents excess water from making the dip runny.
Don’t press the silken tofu. Simply drain away the liquid from the package. Silken tofu is supposed to be soft and creamy.
Pulse instead of puréeing the cauliflower. The creamy base should be smooth, but keeping some texture in the cauliflower makes the finished dip much more satisfying.
Adjust the heat to taste. Buffalo sauces vary in spiciness, so taste your creamy mixture before baking and adjust as needed.
Can I Make Buffalo Cauliflower Dip Ahead of Time?
Yes! This is a great appetizer to prepare ahead of time.
Prepare the dip through the step of transferring it to the baking dish, then cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve it. Bake it just before serving so it’s warm and creamy.
💡 If you’re baking it straight from the refrigerator, it may need a few additional minutes in the oven to heat completely through.
How to Store Leftovers
Allow leftover buffalo cauliflower dip to cool before transferring it to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Reheat individual portions in the microwave or warm a larger amount in an oven-safe baking dish until heated through. The dip may thicken slightly after refrigeration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Buffalo Cauliflower Dip Spicy?
My version using this buffalo dip is not spicy. I am not a spicy food fan (I’m pretty whimpy! lol) But it can be spicy if you want it to be! The spice level will largely depend on the buffalo sauce you use. If you love spicy buffalo flavor, drizzle additional sauce over the dip right before serving.
Can I Make This Without Tofu?
The silken tofu helps create the base of the dip and creamy texture. I recommend keeping it in this recipe for the best results. Because silken tofu has such a mild flavor, you really don’t taste it once it’s blended with the buffalo sauce, cream cheese, nutritional yeast, and seasonings.
