Description

This Purple Halloween White Hot Chocolate is a fun and festive drink made with creamy oat milk, vegan white chocolate, and naturally colored purple with black carrot powder. Top each mug with a generous swirl of vegan whipped cream, Halloween sprinkles, and candy eyeballs for a spooky-cute treat that’s perfect for Halloween parties, movie nights, or an after-trick-or-treating warm-up.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups unsweetened plant-based milk, divided (such as oat milk, rice, almond, coconut, soy)
  • 4 teaspoons black carrot powder
  • 1/3 cup dairy-free white chocolate chips or chopped vegan white chocolate
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vegan whipped cream, for topping
  • Halloween-colored sprinkles, for topping (preferably dye-free)
  • Candy eyeballs, for topping

Instructions

  1. Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons of the plant milk and 4 teaspoons of black carrot powder directly to a small saucepan. Whisk until completely smooth and no lumps remain.
  2. Gradually whisk in the remaining milk, adding a small amount at first and whisking until smooth before pouring in the rest. Warm the mixture until steaming, but do not allow it to boil.
  3. Add the white chocolate and whisk until completely melted and the hot chocolate is smooth and creamy.
  4. Whisk in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Divide the hot chocolate between two mugs. Top generously with vegan whipped cream, Halloween-colored sprinkles, and candy eyeballs.

Notes

READ THE BLOG POST FOR MORE TIPS & INFORMATION!

Sweetness: Depending on the dairy-free white chocolate you use, you may want to add maple syrup for added sweetness. The non-dairy white chocolate chips I used are sweetened, so I did not add any maple syrup.

Sprinkles: I used these Nonparelis Halloween Sprinkles, these purple sprinkles, and these orange sprinkles.

Storage: Store leftover hot chocolate without toppings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop and whisk well before serving.
